FAQ
Q: How do I get started?

A: We would have a short phone conversation (15 minutes) to briefly get to know each other. There are two important parts of the call. I want to verify that I can help you achieve your desired outcomes. And more importantly, I want you to feel comfortable and make sure there is good reason for us to work together. If it seems like there is a match, we schedule a complimentary exploratory session. In that session we go into greater detail about what you want to achieve or resolve. I then talk about my approach and how it can assist you in your outcomes. At that point, we review an agreement and choose to work together–or choose not to.

If it looks like we can achieve your outcomes, then we discuss fees and move forward. Again, my rates are very reasonable for the value you get.

Q: Why do I need a Transition Guide? What can you do for me?
A: You’ve probably had guides and mentors throughout your life and each of them has taken you to the next step in your life and/or career development. You may have tried coaching or therapy, and are still looking to move beyond some lingering limitations. As a Transition Guide, I can help you see and feel your potential – better yet, to experience it. I’ve found that small, subtle changes at the right level can make large lasting impressions in all aspects of your life.

Q: Why do you call yourself a Transition Guide? Why not just call yourself a coach?

A: Well the short answer is, I'm not. The service I provide is more than that. "Transition Guide" more accurately describes what I do. When we work together, we create a custom program for you that may or may not include the standard services (life planning, accountability, and goal setting) normally associated with coaching. We take you through a powerful process that will help you peel back the layers of limiting beliefs and then work toward setting realistic and achievable goals to create desired results. While coaching can address some of the 'blocks' that stop people from achieving their dreams, as a Transition Guide I help you with the deeper level personal change that will stand throughout time, even after we stop working together.

Q: What is the difference between a Transition Guide and a coach?

A: Coaches do great work. and I know this from experience. They push you to breakthroughs in your life, often with their wonderful structures of goal-setting, life-planning and accountability. Coaches also typically work on a specific area of your life with you. However, pushing you to breakthrough results can actually create internal conflict especially if there is a part of you that isn't ready for these breakthroughs. So what do you do if these internal conflicts arise or surface in other areas of your life?

As a Transition Guide, I have a more holistic view of the whole person, and how what's not working in your life might be affecting your entire being. We create an environment where the changes you choose to make are accepted by all parts of you and your sense of self, thus making change fun, exciting and permanent.

Q: What is your approach?
A: I've created the Transition Method™ which challenges and encourages you to take responsibility for making change in your life. Of course, I will be there to guide you along the way. I take you through a powerful process that will help you peel back the layers of limiting beliefs, and then help you work toward creating your desired results. My mission (and my passion!) is to listen, understand, and support your journey towards clarity, action, and success.

Q: Are you a licensed therapist?
A: I am not a licensed California State mental health professional and do not provide psychotherapy, counseling, or any other mental health service that would require a license, nor do I hold myself out to provide such services. I provide consulting and educational services that often result in substantial learning, transformation, and the acceleration of your personal happiness and success.

Q: How is your offering different than therapy?
A: Therapy is about diagnosis, classification, and often medicating. It is a problem and illness approach. Many times it is focused on finding out 'Why' you are doing what you are doing to get your current results.  With my approach, we focus on the 'What' or 'How' you are doing what you are doing to get your current results.  It's about getting the results you want (that you aren't getting) through focusing on 'what' and 'how' to make those changes in a benign way.

Q: How is the healing you do different than “energy” healing, hypnosis, etc.?

A: A Transition Guide involves the client in a conscious process. They are aware of what is happening and can learn precisely how to shift the structure of their subjective experience. Basically, the client 'learns' and becomes more aware of their surroundings, thus giving the client more positive options.

There is no mystery and no “magic” in what we do. I've used and experienced these processess and they work! If for some reason one approach doesn't produce the results you want, we scrap it and use another. Again, we are focused on your desired outcomes and produce measurable results.

Q: Do you offer a session by session approach?
A: I've discovered that to get lasting results, it requires a larger personal commitment and greater depth of interaction. Remember, we want to create lasting change. People bump up against boundaries, and it's critical that we take the time to address them properly. It is comprehensive and effective.

Q: Do you offer programs that are less than 7 sessions?

A: If you think about it, ten hours is very little time. I believe that making a minimum 10-hour commitment to yourself is the most effective way to create your desired results. It’s been my experience that there is an underlying or root cause that affects multiple areas of life. When we clear out these root causes, we’re able to make room for faster change and better results.

Q: Do you work over the phone?
A: I currently offer one-on-one, in-person sessions as I believe this is the most powerful way I can support you. I want you to get the most out of the program. If necessary, we could do a session or two over the phone but for the most part, we will be working together in person.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I do not accept insurance. I do accept cash and personal checks.

Q: What do you charge for your services?
A: More than you would expect. No, I am just kidding! I am at or below market rate. I do not discuss fees until we meet in the exploratory session and you have a better understanding of the work and the value it would bring to you and your life. When providing high-value services, I've found that it's difficult to quantify the value of my services without a clear explanation and understanding that individual gets. I also have a limited number of spots available for “coaching” so I carefully interview my prospective clients through an initial chat and a complimentary exploratory session. The exploratory sessions are up to 90 minutes at not charge to be sure we are a fit for each other.

Q: Do you have a sliding scale or would you consider trade or barter for other services?

A: Unfortunately No. I've found that my clients get the most out of my services if it is not a trade. I don't know what it is, but both myself and my clients do not relate or absorb the work in the same way. I want my clients to get the most out of our time together with long-lasting changes.

At some point in the future, I would love to set up a non-profit that would allow my services to reach a wider audience.  I'm just not there yet ;)

Testimonials

Tim Steele's "transition work" has been a profound experience for me. He smoothly guided me through several simple, but elegant, processes.  On the other side of the work, I find myself making more powerful decisions regarding my usage of time. Where I was on autopilot, I'm now developing new, more valuable habits. I am amazed at the profound shift that has occurred in so little time with so little effort!
